Webmail ASP

Deployment scenarios for individuals and companies

1 - Personal: "Webmail for my website"

You want webmail for your own use and maybe for a handful of friends or relatives...
...WebmailASP is easy to install and has all the features you need.

Yahoo or Hotmail are OK, but you want more flexibility. You know that being the owner of your own webmail pages has some unique advantages:
  • Use the same pages to access all your POP email accounts (work, home, etc.)
  • Secure and confidential flow of messages and addresses.
  • Easy access to archived messages (MS Access) and full control over backups, queries, and copies of the database.
  • Possibility to tweak the interface and integrate webmail with your personal web site by making changes to the source code.
  • No limits on the number or size of the messages.
WebmailASP can be installed on the server you have at home or on your web-hosting account (see also the requirements page.) Installation is easy, even if you never installed other ASP applications before.

2 - Portal and other internet-company web sites

You or your customer want webmail to attract visitors to a web site...
...WebmailASP is scalable, easy to admin, and a crowd-pleaser.

Adding webmail capabilities to a web site is guaranteed to increase its interest and stickiness. With WebmailASP you can do it without writing one line of code.

WebmailASP includes a user management page with some user statistics and the capability of deleting all the user's database records and external files with one click.

As the traffic increases, upsize the database from MS Access to SQL Server. And with the Supplemental License you can add as many CPU's and servers as the traffic requires without any extra fees.

3 - Corporate extranet

Your company or organization wants to give external access to internal mail...
...WebmailASP is easy on the budget and absolutely non-proprietary.

You don't have to be afraid to have your company's webmail system locked into some proprietary technology. Everything about WebmailASP is open:

  • There is no code encryption and no binaries, you have access to all the code (ASP, HTML, JavaScript).
  • WebmailASP works with any email server that implements the standard POP/SMTP protocol.
  • The database is in MS Access format. It is easily upsizable to MS SQL Server and possibly to other SQL servers too.
  • It is even possible to run ASP on Apache, should you decide to switch from IIS.
So here's what you have to do: download and install WebmailASP; fill the users table with name and account information for everyone at the company; remove the unneeded signup form by switching a flag; send a message giving everyone the good news.

And you can do all that way before the deadline your boss gave you.
